Phytonic Blue Metallic over an Ivory White interior, and this is the G05 generation X5, the one that moved the whole model upmarket. The kilometres are on the higher side for a 2019 and the price reflects that, which is how a loaded X5 ends up within reach in the first place. The engine is the one you want. BMWs 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six, the B58, driving all four wheels through the eight speed automatic and xDrive. Smooth in a way a V6 never quite manages, strong in the middle of the rev range where you actually drive, and it has a reputation among BMW people as one of the better engines the company has built in a long while. Air suspension at both ends with Driver Control ride settings, so it rides softly when you want it to and firms up when you do not.

This one was ordered with the boxes ticked. The Premium Enhanced Package brought the heads-up display, heated rear seats, hands-free power liftgate, premium sound, WiFi hotspot, remote start, seat and mirror memory, LED headlights and four zone climate. The M Sport Package added the aggressive exterior treatment, the M steering wheel and the performance tires on aluminum wheels. The Advanced Driving Assistance Package covers adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, front collision mitigation, evasion assist and driver monitoring.

On top of that you get heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, the panoramic roof, navigation, back-up camera and rear parking sensors, power folding mirrors, privacy glass, woodgrain trim and a cargo shade. The original window sticker on this exact VIN totalled $87,135 with those three packages on it.

Room for five with a proper flat load floor behind them and the split tailgate BMW kept for the X5, which is genuinely useful when you are loading in a parking lot or sitting on it at a rink. xDrive plus a set of winters and this will not think twice about an Ottawa February.
